Australia has become one of whisky’s boldest frontiers. In just over a decade, its single malts have gone from curiosity to serious global contenders. They’re praised for vibrant flavour, inventive cask use and a distinctly Australian sense of confidence.
Our Australian distillery partners create single malt unbound by old-world rules. They’re shaped by climate, creativity, and a willingness to rethink what whisky can be.
-
What makes single malts distinct?
Single malts are all about one thing: focus. They’re made at a single distillery using just one type of malted grain (usually barley), allowing every choice, from yeast strain to fermentation, still design to cask type, to shape the final whisky. This is different from blended whisky, which is made from a mixture of different whiskies.
Each bottle of single malt is a story of place, technique and creativity. One sip, and you should know exactly where it came from.
-
How does a subscription work?
- We work with Australian distilleries producing small-batch and often one-off single malts, whiskies made in limited quantities, shaped by experimentation and intention.
- Releases are offered exclusively through the Barrel Lane Whisky Club. There’s no catalogue to browse and no bottles sitting on shelves.
- You’re invited into our ongoing discovery. You’ll receive access to distinctive single malt releases as they become available.
- Every club release is accompanied by detailed tasting and distillery notes. Members learn not just what flavours to expect, but how production choices, climate and cask influence the final single malt.
